Temporarily Taller

Leotard -- Lacoste; Shorts -- Rachel Zoe; Shoes -- Jeffrey Campbell; Belt -- J Crew; Shades -- Paul Smith; Bracelets -- Henri Bendel, David Yurman; Necklace -- Tiffany's

But first, expresso.

While I was out shopping with friends we somehow started playing a game of "let's make Petersen try on all the ridiculous/sick shoes we find." Given that I fit into most display sizes this is an easy game to have me play. Once we found ourselves in the 5th Avenue Urban Outfitters I finally found the MOST outrageous shoes we would run across all day. Hello, Jeffrey Campbell.

For those of you who may not know, Jeffrey is notorious for making some of the most fabulously outrageous shoes, ever. These, clearly, were no exception. Unlike heels, these platforms prop your feet five inches up and oddly enough elevated completely flat. Oddly enough, I fell in absolute shoe love. However unusual feeling wearing these platforms may have been, I remain addicted to their look, height, and uniqueness. I wanted them. I had to step back and calm myself though. Realistically where and when would I ever wear these, everyday did not exactly come to mind.

After a good 15 minutes of lust and inability to remove said platforms from my feet, I had to part myself from Jeffrey. Who knew I would fall head over platform in love with these Jeffrey's? It was a joke that ended up just being a joke on me because days later and I still think about them.

I've thought about caving and just adding them to my closet, but no shoe that amazing deserves to be a collector of dust. What do you think I should do?

Shopping is a girls best friend..until your card gets declined

Today my best friend G and I went shopping in Soho. There was a little glitch when the stores register kept declining my cards -- I was mortified! -- but I ended up with a very cute shirt that I absolutely will be wearing for a future blog post. G was more fortunate and his card wasn't declined, he made off with two shirts from All Saints.

In my post mortified state, I must ask..what do you do when your card gets declined? I tried to stay cool and not freak out but, in all seriousness, easier said than done! If G hadn't been there I wouldn't have been able to laugh it off.

Welcome to The Spiked Coffee. I am Petersen A. I use to be a blogger for JoblessBetches.blogspot.com. Since last summer I have moved to New York City and was a Social Media Guru for a start-up online boutique. It has almost been a year since my last fashion blog and now that I am living in the city I couldn't resist getting back into it. I came up with the name "The Spiked Coffee" because I love coffee, I love spikes, and sometimes--when I am in class--I love to drink spiked coffee. I am excited to blog from New York for you all, and am looking forward to my first outfit post. p.s. don't forget to spike your coffee.
